News picked up quickly after a slow spell before the Philadelphia Eagles started training camp. Once the players reported to the NovaCare Complex, updates began pouring in.

With the shift from July to August, we’re approaching a crucial phase. The first of three preseason games will kick off on August 9th at 7:30 pm EST.

The Eagles are working on reducing their 90-man training camp roster to a 53-man regular-season roster. Every offseason, this means discovering new standout players and saying goodbye to some favorites.

Don’t worry, though—16 players can be added to the practice squad, or 17 in Philly’s case due to Laekin Vakalahi’s exemption through the International Pathways Player Program.

The roster changes have already started. Cornerback Mario Goodrich was released on July 30th to make room for veteran offensive lineman Nick Gates. Other important notes include Le’Raven Clark on injured reserve since May, Sydney Brown on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list, and rookie defensive back Cooper DeJean and veteran wide receiver Shaquan Davis on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.
