A Team USA Olympian was seen being supported by Lewis Hamilton in Paris when he was taking a vacation from the Formula One season.
In the French capital, Hamilton was there to provide his support to Miles Chamley-Watson, an American fencer and the Mercedes driver’s close friend.
The seven-time world champion, who has been seen yachting across Europe, soaking up the sun in Australia, and dressing up as Mario characters in Japan, has been candid about his friendship with Chamley-Watson.
In the lead-up to the Games, Chamley-Watson shared the following about her relationship with Olympic.com: “We love taking trips together.” I believe that keeping my mind open throughout the off-season is what benefits me in my sporting life.”
Chamley-Watson was vying for another Olympic medal in the fencing competition at the Grand Palais.
The now 34-year-old’s efforts in the men’s team foil category at the Rio Games eight years ago earned him bronze with the United States.
Though the British athlete has expressed interest in competing at a future Games, if all goes according to plan, Chamley-Watson may be referring to his partner Hamilton as a fellow Olympian.
Regarding his chances of winning an Olympic medal, Hamilton said to CNN, “Well, I have a pretty good friend who competes in fencing, Miles Chamley-Watson.
“We’ve been talking almost every day and have always supported one another. Given how hard he’s been working, I would really like to be.
In recent years, Hamilton has shown no signs of giving up on his Formula One career; a move to Ferrari is planned for the 2025 season.
