The NFL holds annual discussions over which players are the best of the best. These discussions influence the league’s top 100 player rankings, which usually infuriates players who feel their rating was unfairly low.
Superstar quarterback Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, who came in at No. 39, a sharp drop from last year’s position of No. 6, seems to be among those athletes who wasn’t satisfied with where he placed in the top 100 rankings.
Burrow’s experience last season was akin to a nightmare for a franchise quarterback hoping to win the Super Bowl: he suffered a calf strain during training camp, then had surgery to repair a wrist ailment that terminated his season early.
In the end, Burrow’s health prevented the Bengals from making the playoffs the previous season, raising many doubts about his ability to lead this club to the Super Bowl and the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Through the Bengals’ YouTube account, it appears that Burrow was unhappy about falling from No. 6 to No. 39 in the rankings but understood why it was since he wasn’t well last year.
“I think I’m obviously better than that, but I didn’t exactly have a season that would have put me any higher than that,” Burrow remarked in the non-playing context.
Burrow, who will be fit and motivated to begin the regular season next month, appears committed to putting things right during the 2024 campaign in addition to revealing a new Slim Shady-like appearance.
On September 8, Cincinnati will host the New England Patriots in their season opener.
