Oilers goalie Tristan Jarry changes tune after loss to Calgary Flames

It looks like Tristan Jarry isn’t shy about pointing out errors made during a game, even if he has to criticize himself.

After losing to the Calgary Flames last night, Jarry took responsibility for not doing well as the goalie.

It’s tough. I believe I could have stopped a few more shots. In the end, if I had managed to keep the score at two goals, we might have had a better result.

It starts with me. I think I need to be more responsible, and I can definitely play better. If I perform well and stay strong for my teammates, we’ll see better results. It begins with me, and I just need to improve moving forward.

This self-criticism was a change from the loss the Oilers had on January 31st against the Wild, when Jarry blamed the defense for not playing well in front of him.

We want to play quickly and keep the game in their zone. I think when we take too many risks, it comes back to hurt us. It’s challenging, so we really need to handle the puck better.

In last night’s game, Jarry was right to take charge of his part in the loss. The Oilers hoped he would have saved the first goal against, and Jarry understood that it influenced the game’s outcome. Even Leon Draisaitl mentioned that goalies need to “make a save. ”

Since arriving in Edmonton, Jarry’s performance has dropped from being good to below average. In 11 games, he has a record of 6 wins, 4 losses, and 1 overtime loss.

What’s even more concerning is that his stats are really similar to what Stuart Skinner’s were before he left Edmonton.

Jarry’s goals against average is now 3.64 and his save percentage is . 870, plus he has a record of 2 wins and 3 losses in his last five games. The truth is, there is enough blame to go around for both the goalies and the defense, and both need to get better if Edmonton wants to stay competitive in the Pacific.

They are currently in second place with 64 points after losing their third game in a row. The good news is that they are only two points behind Vegas for first place in the Pacific.

Now the team gets a three-week break before their next game, which gives them plenty of time to recover and prepare for a strong run toward the playoffs.
