Injury forces Canada to make new significant changes

Team Canada will be missing a player when they play at the Olympics on Sunday.

Injuries are starting to impact the Canadian team at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

On Saturday, Team Canada confirmed that Josh Morrissey, a defenseman for the Winnipeg Jets, will not be playing in Sunday’s game because he is injured. We don’t know exactly what kind of injury he has, but we do know he got hurt during Canada’s first game in the tournament against the Czech Republic.

The update about Morrissey isn’t very reassuring either, as Team Canada said he hasn’t been completely ruled out of the entire tournament yet. This is good news, but if the injury is serious enough that they are considering this possibility, it might not bode well for Morrissey’s chances of recovering fast enough to play.

The Canadian coaching team made a big lineup change between the first and second games by sitting out Brad Marchand, a star forward from the Florida Panthers, to let Seth Jarvis, a star forward from the Carolina Hurricanes, have a chance to compete on an international level.

Canada will face France in what is going to be one of their last preliminary games of the tournament on Sunday, and there are no updates yet on other possible changes to the team lineup.
