Whoa! A big action taken while players are at the Olympics?
Just announced, the AHL has put Chicago Blackhawks hopeful goalie Stanislav Berezhnoy and Seattle Kraken hopeful forward David Goyette on a 20-game suspension each for breaking the rules of the AHL/PHPA Performance Enhancing Substance Program.
Here is what Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson said:
“Last week, we found out that Stanislav tested positive for a banned substance according to the AHL/PHPA’s Performance Enhancing Substance Program. Even though Stanislav didn’t mean to take anything illegal, we think his positive result came from a supplement he was using at that time.
NEWS: Forward David Goyette has been suspended 20 games for violating the AHL/PHPA Performance Enhancing Substance Program.

Stanislav is taking full responsibility for what happened, and we admire him for the maturity and accountability he has shown. The Blackhawks organization stands completely behind Stanislav and believes he will see this as a chance to improve while he keeps developing. ”
And here is what Kraken GM Jason Botterill said:
As stated above, both players claim they took banned substances without knowing and will view this as a chance to learn. Because of a deal between the NHL and the AHL, the players are suspended from both leagues for 20 games.
