Oilers completely fleece the Blackhawks as full Connor Murphy trade is announced

Kris Knoblauch has finally got the perfect defender he wanted. The Edmonton Oilers have officially traded for Connor Murphy from the Chicago Blackhawks.

The amount that Edmonton is giving up for this trade is surprisingly small. They are only giving away one second-round draft pick to make it happen.

This trade doesn’t include any top young players or anyone already on the team. That one draft pick is all that Chicago is getting in return.

To make things even worse for the Chicago management, the Blackhawks are paying half of his remaining salary.

This trade is a total win for the Edmonton management. They took advantage of a team that is trying to rebuild and could have asked for a lot more in return.

Murphy is a strong player who is great at blocking shots. Getting him at a low salary of just $2.2 million is a smart move for managing team resources.

The Oilers were in great need of solid players on the right side. They fixed their biggest issue on the team for very little just before their next home games.

Chicago Didn’t Handle This Trade Well

The Blackhawks are obviously concentrating on building their team for the future. Letting go of a solid defensive leader for such a small return is a really bad plan.

A random second-round pick has only a tiny chance of finding a good player who can make a real difference in the professional league.

Chicago basically took on unwanted expenses to help a strong team in the Western Conference prepare for a big playoff run.

Murphy brings toughness and great skills for killing penalties to the Oilers’ locker room. He consistently performs well against tough opponents.

He plays through hard defensive times, disrupts the other team’s movements, and strongly challenges any forwards trying to score near the net.

Star players across the league will definitely find it hard to deal with his tough and relentless defense during challenging away games.
Edmonton did a great job with an important change during the season. They managed to keep all their best young players while bringing in an experienced player.

The Blackhawks totally misunderstood the situation with trades. They gave the Oilers a big boost and ended up with almost nothing in return, which left their fans wanting explanations.
