DJ Moore Sends seven word message on Keenan Allen Staying With Bears

DJ Moore has committed to a long-term future with the Chicago Bears, having signed a four-year, $110 million contract extension that keeps him with the team until the 2029 season. Despite his significant new deal, Moore believes there’s a strong chance that fellow wide receiver Keenan Allen could also remain with the Bears.

Speaking to reporters on July 31 about his contract extension, Moore mentioned Allen’s potential free agency in 2025 and revealed that he has already been trying to persuade Allen to re-sign with the Bears after the 2024 season. Allen, who is 32, is in the final year of the contract he signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020.

Moore discussed his efforts to convince Allen, saying, “I already did that now, I did that yesterday. I was like, ‘Man, listen, what’s your [contract] number? Let’s get it done.'” Out of respect for Allen, Moore did not disclose the contract figure Allen is seeking but expressed optimism that an agreement could be reached to keep Allen in Chicago.

Allen’s performance and health in 2024 will be crucial. The Bears traded a 2024 fourth-round pick to the Chargers to acquire Allen, despite the risk that he might only be with the team for one season. Allen, who had a career-high 108 receptions for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023, will be a key part of the Bears’ offense in 2024. However, the Bears’ approach to re-signing Allen will depend on various factors, including Moore’s new long-term deal and the drafting of rookie Rome Odunze.

Moore is excited about the Bears’ offensive future and the security of his new contract, which includes $82.6 million in guaranteed money. He believes in the potential of rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and wants to be part of the team’s future success. With key offensive players like Moore, Williams, Odunze, and tight end Cole Kmet under contract for several years, Moore sees a bright future for the Bears’ offense.
