This Changes EVERYTHING: Team Canada Risks Total Chaos With Unexpected Young Captain Pick

Team Canada will have a new captain for the upcoming World Championship of Hockey tournament.

On Sunday morning, Hockey Canada shared their leadership team for the tournament, and there was a surprising announcement at the top. Macklin Celebrini, the talented young player from Canada, will step up as captain. He earned this role after an amazing season with the San Jose Sharks and a strong showing at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games held in Milan, Italy, earlier this year.

It’s a big responsibility for Celebrini, but I think most fans will support this choice. Many Canadians see him as an important player for the country in international games, and he’s likely to represent Canada for many years ahead. Luckily, he will have experienced players on his leadership team to help him out, including former Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares and former St. Louis Blues captain Ryan O’Reilly, who will both act as alternate captains.

You can check out a picture of the three of them wearing their new letters just below:

Do you think it’s a good idea to make Celebrini a captain so early in his NHL career? Is this the right choice for Canada considering the future? I’d love to hear what you think about this important announcement in the comments.
