The Ottawa Senators were defeated in their first playoff series for the Stanley Cup by the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.
Nevertheless, one player from the Senators made a negative impression on some viewers during Game 4.
The issue began when Walker was grabbed by Warren Foegele, who plays for the same team as Greig. This left Walker defenseless when Greig unexpectedly hit him. Former NHL goalie Kelly Hrudey was very critical of Greig’s actions in the game.
I’m referring to Ridly Greig, a player for the Senators who is known for annoying other players. But on Saturday, Greig crossed the line when he hit Hurricanes defenseman Sean Walker out of nowhere, which angered many former NHL players.
Hrudey described Greig’s punch as “cowardly and disgusting” while speaking on Sportsnet.
Hrudey also agreed with Walker’s reaction later in the game, which included a dangerous tackle.
Hrudey wasn’t the only former NHL player who felt upset. Paul Bissonnette believed that Greig should receive a serious suspension for what he did.
Bissonnette stated on TNT, “I think he should be banned for five games. When Foegele has Walker in a headlock, Greig making that kind of punch is just crazy. ”
Bissonnette even mentioned that incidents like this would make him want to confront the other player after the game.
