Mike Babcock, the coach of the Edmonton Oilers, and Darnell Nurse are still faced with the same issue since the anticipated draft-weekend deal in Edmonton did not go through.
With the draft approaching, Nurse’s future was genuinely on the line for the Oilers.
League rumors suggested a move would take place around draft weekend for several weeks, as Edmonton attempted to use a long-standing situation to reset their roster.
It never occurred.
Instead, the draft opened with the Oilers still holding one of the biggest blue-line selections in the league and no conclusion to a trade that had considerable traction.
Edmonton was “actively exploring trade possibilities” for Nurse, and there was more than one option on the table, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Pittsburgh remained significantly involved as Anaheim joined the mix. Although Edmonton now had alternatives as a result, the procedure’s main problem persisted.
The no-trade agreement still governs the board for Nurse.
The nurse’s no-trade clause was still the point of contention, and that altered how everything looked.
Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Pittsburgh were among his list of authorized locations. Although Anaheim was interested, it would only be relevant if it coincided with Nurse’s preferred destination.
