Breaking news: Hockey Canada announces captain for 2026 Winter Olympics

Team Canada will feel a lot of pressure at the 2026 Winter Olympics, as this is the first time in more than ten years that NHL players will represent their countries.

As a team that often does well in international hockey, people have high hopes for Canada.

Hockey Canada announced its team leaders early Sunday, selecting Sidney Crosby, the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as the team’s captain.

Crosby, who is known as one of the most respected players in hockey today, will have help from alternate captains Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers and Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche.

Although some people were surprised that Nathan MacKinnon was not part of the leadership group, most reactions to the news have been positive overall.
