Canucks forward signed to Oilers exit Vancouver

According to DFO Rundown, Jake DeBrusk from Vancouver wouldn’t be upset if he got traded away from the team.

Oilers seeking toughness and scoring

Last season, we saw how much one player can change a team when Florida brought in Brad Marchand just before the trade deadline.

Before he left Boston, Brad had scored 21 goals, which was a bit lower than what he usually managed in the 15 years he played there.

I’m not saying DeBrusk is exactly like Marchand; he doesn’t score as much as the energetic Marchand does. However, they do share some similarities in their playing style.

DeBrusk can really make a difference with how he plays, and Edmonton clearly needs that kind of player this season.

He plays an active style where he works hard in the corners and can score, mostly playing as a winger. He’s known for his effort; he goes for the net, plays in tough spots, and can adapt well as a top-line forward. This is just the type of player that Edmonton’s lower forward lines have been lacking.

Last season, the 29-year-old scored 28 goals in 82 games, and even though he has 13 goals in 56 games this year, Jake can still deliver enough to boost Edmonton’s scoring options.

Since there are reports that he’s not happy in Vancouver, moving to a team that has a chance to go far in the playoffs might be exactly what he needs. Jake has a competitive spirit that could energize Edmonton’s lower lines.

And with his readiness to handle tough tasks in front of the net—similar to what Bennett and Marchand do in Florida—his presence could really help the Edmonton Oilers.
