Fans and experts are discussing what he had to say, and you won’t believe what the question was.
Connor McDavid came back to Edmonton this week and was quickly asked a tough question about his reputation.
During a direct conversation, Sportsnet’s Mark Spector brought up Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby, pointing out that by the time they were 29, both had won Stanley Cups and Olympic gold medals. On the other hand, McDavid is still working hard to achieve those goals, even though he plays at a level that often ranks him among the very best in the world.
When asked why he hasn’t achieved those honors yet, McDavid didn’t shy away from the question, starting off by saying sarcastically, “That’s a nice question, thank you.”
“It’s all part of the journey,” he explained. “That’s just how it has to be, right? What other choice do I have? ”
He could have gotten upset by the comparison. Instead, McDavid took it in stride.
“It’s upsetting. There’s no denying that. We could have a completely different discussion if things had gone a bit differently,” he added. “Winning is tough at any level, especially when you’re up against the top players in the NHL and the Olympics. The differences are really small, and we showed that on Sunday. We’ve felt those ups and downs here in Edmonton sometimes. ”
He made no excuses and showed no anger. Many fans and experts praised McDavid for how he handled the challenging questions.

It’s surprising to think that such a skilled player like McDavid is still waiting for that big championship moment. But he remains a strong competitor and continues to work hard. History teaches us that a career isn’t judged by how long it takes to succeed, but by how you deal with challenges along the way.
Clearly, McDavid is still handling things the right way.
