According to the police, two people were killed and several others were hurt in what looks like a planned shooting at an ice rink in Rhode Island on Monday.
The shooting happened around 2:30 in the afternoon at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, which is located about five miles from Providence, as mentioned by Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves.
Along with the two people who died, three others who were shot are in serious condition and have been taken to the hospital, according to law enforcement.
The police chief explained that the shooting seems to have been intentional and might be connected to a family problem, hinting that it could be due to a fight within a family.
Law enforcement reported that the shooter has died from what looks like a self-inflicted gunshot. The FBI mentioned that there is “no immediate danger to public safety. ”
The FBI is currently at the location and will help local officers with any necessary resources, according to a statement from FBI Director Kash Patel.

“We are aware of a serious event at Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, where our Boys Hockey team was playing,” the message said. “We are still gathering more information and collaborating closely with the staff at the event and local police to understand what is happening. ”
“We were informed that several students are safe in different locations. Right now, we are working to confirm where everyone is and how they are doing,” the message continued. “The safety of our students and staff is our main priority, and we are making every effort to get the correct information quickly. ”
