Edmonton-Insider suggests 1 for 1 trade to acquire former Oilers forward

It looks like Mark Spector, who is a top analyst for the Oilers, is eager to bring back Warren Foegele as a player to help out on the lower part of the team.

Industry insiders agree

Spector isn’t the only one suggesting that Foegele could be swapped with Mangiapane. Elliotte Friedman and David Pagnotta mentioned this during their podcasts last week. They even quoted the General Manager of the Kings, Ken Holland, who said:

“We have a lot of forwards on our team,” Holland explained. “Warren Foegele played really well last year. He has missed a few games lately. I will be making calls soon. . . As the Olympic break comes to an end, I expect more trades to happen. We will see if Foegele can be traded for Mangiapane. ”

For the Edmonton Oilers, trading Mangiapane for Foegele could be a good move. Their salary numbers are quite similar, and Foegele is the kind of player they want to add: he has speed, he works hard, and he has some skill to score goals.

Foegele is having a tough time in Los Angeles right now, which makes his trade value lower than in the past. This is likely why he hasn’t been playing lately, and it might be the reason Holland is open to trading him at a low price: maybe just a mid-to-late round draft pick if they don’t make a direct player swap.

Warren is already acquainted with the main players on the Edmonton team and their coach Kris Knoblauch, and he knows how they play, which means he’ll adjust quickly with only 24 games left before the playoffs start.

Both Mangiapane and Foegele have one year left on their contracts. Besides Foegele, the Oilers are also interested in Toronto’s center Nic Roy, who could fill a similar role in their bottom part of the team.
