Leon Draisaitl seemed to hurt his hand while playing for the Oilers just before the Olympics, and now there are worries that it might still be a problem.
On January 31st, during a 7-3 defeat against the Minnesota Wild, Draisaitl left the game to let the Oilers staff check his right hand.
Fans noticed Leon Draisaitl putting ice on his right hand after his injury with the Oilers. Although Draisaitl did go back to play after he hurt his hand against Minnesota, everyone was thinking about the Olympics. Many players would push through some pain to have the chance to represent their country at such an important event.

Sadly, the Olympics might be making Draisaitl’s hand injury worse. Fans have seen him putting ice on his right hand on the bench after nearly every time he went out to play.
Just speculation, but I wonder if Draisaitl is playing through an injury. He seemed to have injured his hand in Edmonton’s game against Minnesota on Jan 31; he returned that game, but in today’s game against Latvia, he’s often been mentioned holding a bag of ice on the bench.

Even with his hand injury, Draisaitl is giving his all for Team Germany. So far, in 2 tournament games, he has scored 1 goal and made 3 points. Most importantly, he is shooting the puck more than any other German player.
yeah it’s that same hand he’s icing every time he’s on the bench oh leo 😭 https://t.co/torb9iUFnW

It wouldn’t be shocking to see Draisaitl playing through an injury for Team Germany at the Olympics, but that worries the Edmonton Oilers. With only 64 points from 58 games this season, Edmonton needs Draisaitl to be completely healthy as the season comes to a close for a chance to make the playoffs.
There’s a chance Draisaitl might take some time off after the Olympics to rest his injury and come back healthy before the playoffs. For now, Oilers fans can only wish for Draisaitl’s well-being and hope he can show his full skills when he comes back to Edmonton after the Olympics.
