Matthew Tkachuk, who plays for the Florida Panthers, has some fantastic news: he and his wife, Ellie, are going to have their first baby. Tkachuk made this joyful announcement during the podcast episode aired on March 12.
With a fun and warm vibe, Tkachuk mentioned that they don’t want to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl, choosing to go with a traditional way. He shared that he hopes to have a son and told his wife about what it’s like to play youth hockey since she has only sisters.
“At some point, we really should have a boy,” Tkachuk explained. “Honestly, I think I’m looking forward to youth hockey more than my own hockey right now. I can’t wait for the family trips… I’m excited to have family come along. I can’t wait for the parents to chat in the hotel lobby at night about their day… just the little things that matter. ”
Tkachuk and Ellie’s relationship has progressed quickly. They became a public couple in 2022, got engaged in spring 2024, and tied the knot on July 19, 2025, soon after Matthew helped the Panthers win back-to-back Stanley Cups.
As they prepare for parenthood with their first baby on the way, Tkachuk is eager for this new journey and all the special moments that being a family brings.
Fans are leaving comments on the post, congratulating the couple but also teasing Matthew a bit, suggesting he might need to mature quickly for those first diaper changes!
