Mercedes duo offer assessments on season so far as Hamilton signals ‘excitement’ for developments

Lewis Hamilton and George Russell recently shared their perspectives on Mercedes’ performance this season, commending the team’s resilience amid tough times.

After facing challenges in the past two years, Mercedes is still striving to reclaim its winning form in 2024. Currently occupying fourth place in the constructors’ standings with 64 points, they remain 60 points adrift from McLaren in third. Despite this, their standout result so far is George Russell’s fifth-place finish in the season opener at Bahrain.

Hamilton admitted that the season hasn’t met his expectations thus far but expressed hope for the team’s future developments.

“While it hasn’t been smooth sailing from my end, the recent race was a positive sign,” remarked the seven-time champion. “I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming upgrades. We’ve made progress, and there’s more to come. It’s a process, but the team spirit is remarkable. Despite setbacks, they’re relentless in their pursuit of excellence. We’ll stay focused and strive for improvement every race.”

Russell echoed Hamilton’s sentiments, highlighting the team’s unwavering commitment to improvement.

“It’s been impressive to witness the team’s dedication,” Russell stated. “They’ve put in countless hours to fast-track developments and enhance the car’s performance. We’re a quarter of the way through the season, and we have a clear roadmap for progress. Everyone is motivated to propel Mercedes back to the top.”

As they head into the next phase of the season, both drivers remain optimistic about Mercedes’ prospects, buoyed by the team’s resilience and determination to succeed.
