The Edmonton Oilers have a completely new pair of goalies this season, and they should try to keep this duo for next year by extending Connor Ingram’s contract.
Ingram, who is 28 years old, is making his way back to the NHL with the Oilers after facing some challenges last year and taking time off for the Player Assistance Program. He is playing in Edmonton for a low salary cap hit of $733K, but this deal will end after this season.
The contract of the Carolina Hurricanes’ goalie can be a good example for Connor Ingram.
The Hurricanes have a rising star goalie named Brandon Bussi, who just signed a 3-year contract extension that has a salary cap hit of $1.9 million. This deal could give a good idea of what Ingram’s salary might be, and it should be less expensive.
Bussi has played more games, has better save percentages, and has saved more goals than expected compared to Ingram. He is also a bit younger than Ingram.
Because of these things, Ingram’s salary should also be lower on a multi-year contract. After a rough few years in his career, he might be willing to accept a new deal.
The Carolina Hurricanes have signed goaltender Brandon Bussi to a three-year deal worth $1.9M AAV.

Right now, Ingram has a save percentage of . 897, but it was above . 900 not long ago. He can definitely be a good backup for Tristan Jarry in the Oilers’ goalie pair in the future, and the Oilers should keep him. Based on the stats, Ingram has performed just as well as Jarry while in Edmonton.
If the Oilers can convince Ingram to agree to a 3-year deal for about $1.5 million or less, they should definitely go for it. That’s a reasonable price for a good goalie to have on their team.
