Oilers say emotional goodbyes to locker room favourite

It’s been a busy season for Calvin Pickard, filled with ups and downs, leading to his departure from the team and a touching farewell from his fellow players.

In a recent article from Sportsnet, some of his teammates shared their feelings about how Pickard leaving Edmonton has impacted them.

I can’t help but feel sad. He’s one of my closest friends, and I’m really going to miss him. But I have to keep doing my own thing, whether Picks is around or not.

I think everyone here agrees that he is one of the best teammates any of us could ask for.

A beloved presence in the locker room will be missed.

Everyone seems to agree that Calvin Pickard was really well-liked among his teammates. He was the type of person who understood how important friendship is in a challenging work environment.

The friendly goalie was put on waivers on Sunday, and he cleared them. Usually, he would go down to Bakersfield to play.

However, with the Olympic break for NHL players starting tomorrow, it looks like Pickard will take some time away from hockey to be with his family or do whatever he wants, according to Jason Gregor on Oilersnation.

One thing is sure: whenever Pickard was needed, he always gave his all.

Honestly, I think he supported a lot of players here, easing the pressure during crucial times. He didn’t always have to say something; just being himself was enough.

He’s a friendly, easygoing guy who isn’t scared. Whether it’s the last game of the Stanley Cup Final or the 47th game of the season, he’s always joking around and making everyone feel less stressed.

I really like him. He’s been fantastic for us.

Last year, Pickard started 31 games and played in 36. He helped a struggling Stuart Skinner and supported Edmonton in advancing through the first two rounds of the playoffs, achieving a 7-1 record.
