The Olympics has made it clear that Tom Wilson can play in the quarterfinals after he had a fight at the end of Canada’s game against France.
The IOC does not allow fighting during the tournament, and it usually results in an instant penalty plus a possible suspension. Luckily for Canada, Wilson got off easy.
A hockey insider from the NHL has confirmed that Tom Wilson won’t be punished for the fight with the French player, Crinon.
Wilson ended up in a pushing match near France’s goal while the game was already in Canada’s favor in the last period.
There will be no further discipline for Tom Wilson or Pierre Crinon

The French player started the contact, likely trying to defend his country in this one-sided game, which might have been their last in the tournament. Wilson went along with it, and both players fought.

Fortunately, Wilson can continue to play in the tournament because he has been a strong player on the offensive side whenever he is on the ice. He makes his opponents really nervous with his aggressive style.
Connor McDavid mentioned this after the first game of the tournament. Wilson helps clear space for his teammates when they are attacking, letting Canada show off their skills.
That was amazing. Wilson was fantastic. He’s great at forechecking and really pressures the other players, which opens up space. Celebrini also stood out. He kept many plays alive and was a threat on the ice, a really talented player.
