Red Wings Ready to Drop a Tkachuk-Level Earthquake—Fans Won’t Believe Who’s on the Chopping Block!

And it’s not only me who thinks so; Chris Chelios thinks the same!

Chris Chelios, a former player for the Red Wings, feels that Detroit might be getting ready to make a big trade, similar to the one that recently happened with Matthew Tkachuk. In the summer of 2022, the Calgary Flames sent Tkachuk, along with a fourth-round pick for 2025, to the Florida Panthers. In return, they got Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar, a young player named Cole Schwindt, and a conditional first-round pick for 2025. Immediately after that, Tkachuk signed a big contract for eight years worth 76 million dollars with Florida, where he became an important player for their two consecutive trips to the Stanley Cup.

When discussing what the Red Wings need, Chelios mentioned how everyone was shocked by Tkachuk’s trade to the Panthers.

“No one expected Matthew Tkachuk would be traded to Florida, and then suddenly, he was no longer with Calgary,” Chelios stated through RG.org.

Chelios highlighted that Detroit could really use another experienced and impactful player to help elevate the team. “They need a strong player in Detroit. It’s challenging because the team isn’t great, and the market isn’t appealing. It’s hard to convince players to join them,” he mentioned.

As Detroit aims to move up in the league standings, fans might be watching carefully for a big trade that could turn the team’s luck around and potentially shake things up across the league.

Which star player do you think Chelios is referring to, and will general manager Steve Yzerman be the one to make the deal happen, or will he lose his job and be replaced by someone who is ready to take action?
