Season ending injury confirmed for Canadian Oilers forward

Connor McDavid will remember this painful loss at the Olympics for a long time, and he might also be dealing with an injury after this event.

Right after getting off the ice, McDavid talked to reporters and struggled to find the right words to share how he felt. He was clearly upset about what this meant for his career and, even more so, for his country.

Oilers fans are worried about the injury he seemed to have, especially with the rest of the NHL season ahead.

It was noticeable during the game that McDavid was having trouble controlling the puck, more than he usually does. He still showed off his great speed and passing skills, but his shots and close-up moves didn’t seem as strong as normal.

In the handshake line after the game, fans saw that his fingers were taped together. It was hard to spot, but it looked like two fingers on his right hand were injured.

To make things worse for the Oilers, Leon Draisaitl also seemed to be dealing with an injury during the Olympics. Many times, while watching Germany’s games, people saw Draisaitl putting ice on his hand while sitting on the bench.

Now, with only 24 games left in the NHL season, the Oilers, who already rely heavily on their top players, will have to deal with both McDavid and Draisaitl playing while hurt. With both of their hands injured, their scoring ability will suffer since they won’t be at their best.

The Edmonton Oilers are going to face a challenging road for the rest of the season, and they haven’t had the best year so far.

They need to find a way to step up their performance and compensate if McDavid and Draisaitl are playing with injuries, especially as the playoffs approach.
