Team Canada announces first practice, Team Captains at Olympics

Today, NHL insiders shared that Sidney Crosby has been officially chosen as Canada’s Captain. Connor McDavid and Cale Makar will be the assistant captains.

It’s not surprising that Crosby was selected as Captain – it’s a smart choice. All Canadian players admire the 38-year-old who is still a top player.
Crosby has the experience to earn respect from every hockey player, having won 3 Stanley Cups in the NHL and 4 Gold Medals in international tournaments while leading the team.

Connor McDavid being named as an assistant captain is also a big deal, as he could be the next Captain of Team Canada in future international competitions after Crosby’s career ends.

Furthermore, insiders disclosed that Team Canada will have their first practice later today.

TSN Insider Ryan Rishaug reported about Canada’s upcoming first practice while speaking with McDavid outside the Olympic Village. McDavid didn’t share many details, but he showed his excitement about being at the event.

Just being here, watching all the athletes arrive, and the team being together now makes it feel more real.
