Team Canada really took control over Team France in their Olympic game today, and still, the French team only had good things to say about the Canadians.
Canada wanted to score as much as they could against France to guarantee their top spot in the tournament. It might seem a bit rude to do that to another team, but Canada was as polite as they could be, which got them some compliments from the French team.
Team France still praised Canada, even after losing badly in the Olympics. They understood that Canada needed to boost their score and recognized that they were facing a much stronger team. Still, the players from France did the right thing by appreciating how well the Canadians played and how respectful they were.

They are definitely the stronger team. They have all the best players, so today was pretty tough for us. – Stephane De Costa
They are an excellent team. We knew what we were getting into. This game was a great learning experience for us. The Canadians showed us some important lessons about hockey. – French Coach Yorick Treille
France goalie Julian Junca on what he said to Sidney Crosby after the game: “I told him the goal he scored wasn’t too nice. He said ‘Yeah, bad luck (for Junca).’ But it’s so nice to play against (Canada) and chat with them and see how nice they are.”

Even the French goalie who was taken out of the game had nice things to say about Canada and his encounters with the Canadian players. He mentioned Sidney Crosby in particular and talked about how friendly the Canadians were, even after such a large loss. Team Canada really showed why they have a good reputation internationally.
Funny quote from Nathan MacKinnon just now.
I asked him what he thought of the French player yanking Tom Wilson to the ice by his jersey during their scrap.
“That guy didn’t want to fight Tom. He just wanted to wrestle. I wouldn’t want to fight Tom either.”

Although they had to score more, Canada still treated the French team with respect. When Connor McDavid scored during the third period when the game was already secured, the captain of the Oilers didn’t celebrate or show off at all. However, when a French player made a rough hit on Nathan MacKinnon, Team Canada was quick to defend their teammate with Tom Wilson stepping in to fight. That French player probably got more than he expected.
In their last game of the preliminary round, Canada did everything they could to set themselves up for success.
