Paul Coffey talked about how he gets along with the Oilers’ head coach, Kris Knoblauch, responding to gossip that their relationship is not good.
As an assistant coach for the Edmonton Oilers, Paul Coffey is putting to rest the rumors about his relationship with Kris Knoblauch. He is saying that there is no problem between them and that they actually see things in a similar way since his return to the coaching team.
When Coffey came back, some people thought it meant that Knoblauch might lose his job. They wondered if Coffey was brought back even though he had issues working with Knoblauch before he left. Wouldn’t it be strange if they didn’t get along, and the Oilers made them work together anyway?
Now, a few weeks later, the Oilers have improved a lot compared to how poorly they were playing before Coffey returned. The team hasn’t played perfectly in recent matches, including a close 6-5 loss to Utah on Tuesday, but they have done a much better job of stopping goals against them. I’m here to support him. I hope he succeeds; he’s a young coach with a wonderful family and a strong coaching background, and I really like being with the Oilers. ”
Does this suggest that Knoblauch is secure if the Oilers don’t do well in the first round, or even worse, miss the playoffs (they haven’t secured a spot yet)? No, he might be in a tough position, and there’s a good chance someone like Coffey could step in. However, if the Oilers continue to win and manage to go on another deep playoff journey, it’s likely that Coffey and Knoblauch will remain partners and enjoy their work together.
