Recent remarks from Adam Fox, a key defense player for the New York Rangers, have led to talks about him possibly being traded to the Edmonton Oilers.
Right now, the Rangers have a record of 22 wins, 29 losses, and 7 ties, placing them last in the Metropolitan Division. Chris Drury has already started major changes by trading the well-known player Artemi Panarin to the Kings earlier this month.
After losing 3-2 in overtime to the Flyers on Thursday, Adam Fox was directly asked about what his future holds with the Rangers.
His answer did not show any promise. The 2021 Norris Trophy winner mentioned he is only thinking about “this year right now” and pushed off any discussion about his future until after the season ends.
In the intense environment of NHL gossip, this is a big warning sign. For someone who has always been a Rangers fan and strived to play in New York, saying “wait and see” can easily sound like “I want to leave. ”
Now, the Edmonton Oilers are in the picture.
Could Fox be the player they really need in Edmonton?
Adam Fox was asked about his future with the Rangers

It’s no secret that GM Stan Bowman is looking for a strong, right-handed defenseman to help fix a defense that has struggled all season.
Fox is more than just a solid defenseman. He’s an outstanding player who handles the puck well and plays more than 23 minutes each game. Adding his skills to a power play that already includes Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl would be a tough match for other teams.
Getting a star player who costs $9.5 million will be a challenge. The Oilers would need to give up valuable assets to pull it off.
Nothing has been set in stone, and we are really just guessing right now. However, if the Rangers are really starting a tough time of rebuilding, Fox might choose to try for a championship in Alberta instead of seeing things fall apart in Manhattan.
