Buffalo Sign Big Trade For AFC South Wide Receiver Before 2024 Season

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills underwent significant changes to their offensive lineup during the NFL offseason.

The most notable change was trading star wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. Additionally, wide receiver Gabriel Davis departed for the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency, leaving the Bills with substantial gaps at the receiver position.

To address these vacancies, the Bills selected Keon Coleman in the 2024 NFL Draft and signed receivers like Curtis Samuel and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Despite these additions, the team still needs a top-tier receiver to emerge as Josh Allen’s primary target.

With this in mind, the Buffalo Bills might consider making a strategic trade before the new season begins.

Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report has suggested that the Bills could target Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks in trade discussions.

“With DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, and Tyler Boyd likely ahead of Burks on the depth chart, he finds himself as the fourth option in a Tennessee passing game that ranked 29th in the NFL in 2023. The Bills need a secondary boundary receiver to complement Coleman. The Titans, in a rebuilding phase, would benefit from acquiring more draft picks. Burks, on the other hand, could use a fresh start and playing with a quarterback like Josh Allen could help unlock his potential.”

Burks, though not yet meeting the Titans’ expectations, has demonstrated glimpses of his capabilities. In his first two NFL seasons, he appeared in just 22 games due to injuries, recording 49 receptions for 665 yards and a touchdown.

While these stats might not be overly impressive, Burks’ physical attributes—standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 225 pounds—along with his athletic prowess, suggest he has untapped potential. A change of scenery and an upgrade at quarterback could be the catalysts he needs to thrive.

Considering his underwhelming production thus far, the Bills could acquire Burks without giving up significant assets. As the 2024 season approaches, keep an eye on the Bills potentially making a move to bolster their receiving corps with a player like Burks.
