Eighteen high-profile players sign with the Oilers during free agency

Evgeni Malkin to Edmonton? The head coach, Kris Knoblauch, really needs some strong players, and a newly revealed list of 18 free agent options shows that the team is serious about making changes.

Malkin has 84 points from just a few seasons back, making him a top choice among experienced players. The Oilers are looking for more scoring help to support their stars who have scored over 100 points.

However, he is not the only player they are considering. This long list of 18 players shows that they are ready to shake things up this summer.

Rasmus Andersson and John Carlson are key targets for the defense. Carlson plays over 24 minutes each game and has great passing skills and experience. These would be excellent additions for the Oilers, and we believe the fans would be on board with that idea.

Jacob Trouba is also being looked at. The team has struggled in defense during the third period recently, and Trouba is known for his strong performance, with 195 hits.

On the offensive side, Alex Tuch and Jaden Schwartz can provide quick scoring. Tuch has a track record of scoring 36 goals, and he offers the size that the top forward lines need.

Big changes to the roster

A player that fans know well might come back. Stuart Skinner won 26 playoff games for the team, so bringing him back after his trade in December makes sense.

Jack Roslovic and Mason Marchment can help with getting the puck up the ice, which Edmonton really needs. Marchment has scored 22 goals this season and plays tough along the boards.

Anthony Mantha and Patrik Laine are great goal scorers. Although Laine had a tough recent streak with a minus-3 rating, his shooting skills are really impressive.

Oliver Bjorkstrand and Boone Jenner bring a lot of toughness to the team. Jenner wins over 53 percent of his faceoffs and fights hard in tough situations.

Anders Lee and Bobby McMann could make the lower lines very tough to play against. Lee has a history of scoring 28 goals, and the Oilers want their depth players to help control the game better.
Scott Laughton and Jamie Benn add strong leadership to the team. Benn has more than 900 career points, showing that having experienced players is important in the league.

Michael Bunting is a perfect fit for being annoying to opponents. He gets a lot of penalties called against others, which helps the team a lot during power plays.

Every player on this list has dealt with tough situations in their NHL careers. The current third line didn’t score for five games in a row, so it’s clear that changes were needed.

Get ready for excitement on Wednesday, July 1. Stan Bowman has about $15 million in salary cap space, and he is eager to use it.
