After being deemed unnecessary by Chelsea, Conor Gallagher is prepared to depart, with Tottenham and West Ham leading the competition to sign him.

The 23-year-old, who scored twice in last week’s 5-0 demolition of Wrexham and in Saturday’s 4-3 friendly victory over Brighton in Philadelphia, is being made available to clubs.

West Ham is prepared to overtake Spurs now that they have made £105 million from the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal. The Hammers have Joao Palhinha, Denis Zakaria, and James Ward-Prowse on their short list of potential replacements for their former skipper.

Last summer, David Moyes made an attempt to acquire Gallagher, but Thomas Tuchel, the former Chelsea manager, stood in the way. In addition to finding a potential successor for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has asked the team to allow him to go Atletico Madrid, Spurs need homegrown players.

Even if Chelsea lacks experienced midfielders, they would still let Gallagher leave. Since he was six years old, he has resided at Stamford Bridge, and he has consistently expressed his desire to remain there. Nevertheless, with only two years remaining on his current contract and the lack of a new contract offer, he gradually comes to terms with the need to quit.

In January, Gallagher turned down a transfer to Everton but was open to joining Newcastle, who had a loan offer declined

Chelsea didn’t want to bolster a competitor for European qualifying, although Newcastle has subsequently lost interest after making a large investment in Sandro Tonali, an Italy international.

Mauricio Pochettino has kept Gallagher on the field during a successful preseason campaign. Against both Wrexham, Gallagher played the second 45 minutes against Brighton. He has, however, played fewer minutes in pre-season than Chelsea’s youthful option Andrey Santos, while Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei have played the same amount of time.

Pochettino is requesting that his younger players work hard to earn a spot in his first-team lineup for the upcoming season, but he is making no promises.

Although he supports Gallagher, the new manager respects Chelsea’s choice because his team will likely be in flux for the duration of the transfer window.

Pochettino requested fresh players to arrive “as soon as possible” so he can instruct them during the team’s tour to the United States, and Chelsea is now actively seeking out midfielders

The main target is Moises Caicedo, and while talks are underway, no progress has been made. According to Roberto De Zerbi, Chelsea have not yet satisfied Brighton’s “conditions,” which are thought to be a £100 million asking price.

The manager of Brighton also suggested that Chelsea provide defender Levi Colwill to break the deadlock. Colwill won’t go, according to Pochettino, since he has the potential to become “one of the greatest center-backs in England.”

Mohammed Kudus, a more attacking option who wants to leave Ajax, has also been contacted by Chelsea. Romeo Lavia of Southampton and Gabri Veiga of Celta Vigo are still available alternatives for Chelsea, who are willing to sign two midfielders this summer.

“The sporting directors [Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart] and the board are working so hard to bring the right people, right players, and the right profile to the squad,” Pochettino stated. “I’m so pleased with how they’re operating,”

Elye Wahi, a teenage forward from Montpellier, is still in talks to join Chelsea, although he is anticipated to sign a season-long loan with Chelsea’s affiliate club Strasbourg first. After Chelsea’s preseason trip is through, they’ll also loan Brazilian winger Angelo Gabriel, who cost Santos £14 million, to the recently acquired French team.
