The Edmonton Oilers are getting ready to play the Tampa Bay Lightning, but there’s a big worry about Leon Draisaitl.
The key player might not be able to play again this season because of a hurt leg, which is a tough setback for Edmonton’s chance to make the playoffs.
Before the game on Saturday, head coach Kris Knoblauch gave a careful update. He mentioned that Draisaitl is getting help and care for his injury but won’t be back on the ice for several weeks. “This is obviously very hard for him, and he’s going through treatments,” Knoblauch stated. “He’s getting the care he needs. We’re hopeful he will be back on the ice in a few weeks, but it’s going to take some time. ” Knoblauch explained that it won’t be quick before Draisaitl can practice with the team again. “It’s going to take a while before he can skate with the team, but I know he’s getting the help he needs,” Knoblauch added.

Draisaitl got hurt during a game where the team beat the Nashville Predators after a hit from Ozzy Wiesblatt. He went back to play for a little while in the first period, but he didn’t come back after that. At 30 years old, he has been one of the best players in the league, getting 97 points in 65 games this season. His injury creates a big hole in Edmonton’s roster, which was clear when they lost 4-0 to the Florida Panthers.
