Reporter sends strong message on Boston Celtics rookie: ‘Most beloved Celtic since Isaiah’

The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach sent a (perhaps hyperbolic) message on how much Boston Celtics fans already love former Arkansas Razorback and Cs rookie Jordan Walsh: he’s the most beloved Celtic since Isaiah Thomas.

“Jordan Walsh has two career points but might be the most beloved Celtic since Isaiah lol,” Himmelsbach tweeted.

Walsh checked into the C’s February 14 matchup with the Brooklyn Nets during the first quarter, which excited the fanbase. The two points Himmelsbach referenced came against the Memphis Grizzlies during a career-high nine minutes of floor-time.

Jordan Walsh’s Boston Celtics teammate high on rookie’s potential

Sam Hauser spoke highly of Walsh’s development back in December, both in the work he’s put in to get better and where the Arkansas wing’s journey could go.

“Jordan is coming along well,” Hauser said (h/t MassLive). “He’s young, he’s learning, but he’s been playing really well. You can tell he’s got a lot of potential and a lot of talent, so I know he’s working really hard and every time he’s come back here it’s looked like he’s gotten better. So, props to him.

“I think you kind of have to have a balance. Work on the things that you know, like when you come up here, you’re going to have to do, and then also expanding your game as much as you can when you get the opportunity. I think he’s done a good job of that so far, and I think when he does come up here, he’s probably going to be a defender, a spot-shooter and find a role on this team. But down there, you can see what he’s got and what potential he has.”

Walsh is coming along slowly and could be a year or two away from making any meaningful impact on the Celtics. But with the Cs as top-loaded as any team in the Association, it’s good to know that the farm system is stocked.
