Saturday Done Deal: Boston Red Sox Sign Star Duo, MLB Agent Reports

Is Boston gearing up for another surprise move, or have they wrapped up their roster adjustments?

The Boston Red Sox have certainly kept fans guessing this offseason.

With their starting rotation identified as a key area for improvement, the Red Sox were linked to numerous high-profile pitchers on the market. From free agents to potential trade targets, it seemed like Boston was exploring every avenue to bolster their pitching staff.

While the signing of Lucas Giolito made waves, fans and pundits alike anticipated further moves given the team’s remaining needs.

Yet, despite the persistent rumors and available resources, Boston has remained relatively quiet. Pitchers like Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery, who could address the team’s needs, are still on the market, raising questions about why the Red Sox haven’t made a move.

MLB Network’s Jon Morosi tempered expectations, suggesting that the window for Boston to sign these pitchers may have passed. He emphasized that other possibilities might be in play, hinting at a dynamic landscape for teams like the Yankees.

Although adding Snell or Montgomery could reshape perceptions of the Red Sox, it seems unlikely at this stage.

With their 2023 season ending with 78 wins, Boston’s lack of significant pitching additions raises concerns about their prospects for 2024, despite ample financial resources.
