Major update in the Gavin McKenna saga

According to a story by college hockey expert Brad Elliot Schlossman, NHL scouts have been told that Gavin McKenna, a top player from Penn State and a likely first pick in the NHL Draft, is good to play this weekend.

From Schlossman:

McKenna was in the news last week because he was arrested for supposedly hitting another Penn State student and causing a broken jaw.

He was facing several charges, including a serious charge of aggravated assault, which means trying to seriously hurt someone, along with simple assault, harassment, and creating a disturbance by fighting.

However, those charges have been reduced as new information has come out.

The serious aggravated assault charge has been dropped because the district attorney said on Friday that there wasn’t enough evidence. They found that after looking at video of what happened, there wasn’t any intention to cause serious harm.

Now, McKenna is dealing with a lesser charge of simple assault, and there is a court hearing set for March 11th. For now, and probably even after the hearing, he has been released and can continue playing for Penn State.
