Team Canada will have to name new Captain, one leader emerges from the group

As per the rules of the Olympics, if Sidney Crosby can’t play, Team Canada will need to choose a new captain, and Connor McDavid is becoming the top choice for that.

Sidney Crosby got hurt during Canada’s match against Czechia, and it looked serious. He couldn’t go back to play, Canada didn’t share any updates, and one doctor is worried that he might not be able to continue in the tournament.

Team Canada is going to have to find a new captain if Crosby is not able to take part.
While talking to reporters today, Coach Jon Cooper seemed hopeful and didn’t say Crosby would be out for the rest of the tournament just yet. For the time being, they are treating his injury on a day-to-day basis while they wait for test results to come tomorrow.

But according to Olympic rules, the captain of the team needs to be ready to play in every game. If Crosby misses even one game, then Canada must name a new captain.

Every hockey fan knows who is likely to step into that leadership position for Team Canada. It’s Connor McDavid.

During today’s practice for Team Canada, McDavid was the first one on the ice to lead the team. He has a lot of experience as a leader, being the youngest captain ever in the NHL. Plus, he is Canada’s top player.

Crosby didn’t practice today, and neither did Nathan MacKinnon, who has been dealing with an injury after their match against France.

After scoring the winning goal in the 4 Nations too, McDavid has clearly become the favorite to take over the Captaincy if Crosby can’t play. Most fans and experts believe this, though Nathan MacKinnon could also be in the running.

Team Canada is mostly hoping Crosby can come back and keep leading the team at the Olympics. But if it comes down to needing someone to step up, Connor McDavid is the best choice for the important leadership role.
