Hughes brothers support Auston Matthews after his Gold Medal win.

After Team USA celebrated their big win on Sunday, Matthews was asked how this victory might help his confidence in the National Hockey League. However, he got a bit defensive about the question, which sparked some passionate replies from Quinn and Jack Hughes.

At this point, Quinn and Jack jumped into the conversation, criticizing the Toronto press for how they cover Matthews.
“I don’t think it matters what anyone says right now,” said Jack. “Auston Matthews is a champion. He’s an Olympic gold medalist. ”
Quinn shared a similar thought but specifically pointed out the media in his answer.

Matthews seemed to agree with what his Team USA teammates were saying when he mentioned he had nothing else to add.
“I don’t have anything more to say,” Matthews said.
Matthews looked really happy after winning the Gold Medal on Sunday, and he got emotional while talking to the media about the big win afterward. I totally understand why he wants to enjoy this moment, especially with the criticism he’s faced for not winning at important times in his NHL career.
