Matthew Tkachuk scores one of the most amazing goals of the year against one of the top candidates for the Vezina Trophy.
Fans from several teams in the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League are rooting for Matthew Tkachuk, who plays for the Florida Panthers, on Saturday since he seems determined to defeat the New York Islanders and possibly crush their chances of making the playoffs.
Tkachuk had a fantastic first period against the Islanders, scoring two goals in very exciting ways.
His first goal came during a breakaway, where he tricked one of the best goalkeepers in the league this season, Ilya Sorokin, by scoring with a backhand shot.
While everyone could agree that was a beautiful goal, Tkachuk’s next move would leave everyone, including Ilya Sorokin, completely amazed. He quickly grabbed a bouncing puck and went between his own legs to beat Sorokin again, putting the puck in the top corner of the net.
This play will surely be a key moment in Tkachuk’s best plays collection. Amazing!
If the Islanders lose today, it would really hurt their chances of getting into the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. Other teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, and Ottawa Senators would gain a lot from an Islanders defeat.
Even though Matthew Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers aren’t likely to make the playoffs this year, if they continue to keep this lead, he might actually assist his brother Brady Tkachuk and the Ottawa Senators in reaching the playoffs too.
