Two really big guys dropped their gloves on Saturday afternoon.
Fans watching the early games of the National Hockey League on Saturday got to see a big fight in the first match, which was between the Detroit Red Wings and the New York Rangers. However, Red Wings fans might not be too pleased with what happened.
It was Ben Chiarot, a seasoned defenseman for the Red Wings, who started the fight. He accidentally lost control of his stick in the third period of the game, which made Rangers player Will Cuylle very upset. Cuylle was so angry that he confronted Chiarot, and this led to both players fighting.

Both players are pretty big, standing at 6 feet 3 inches tall. Chiarot has a slight edge in weight, coming in at 222 pounds compared to Cuylle’s 212 pounds, which made this a real heavyweight match. It was tough to say who won the fight because Chiarot did well at first and landed some good hits, but Cuylle came back strong at the end and appeared to get the upper hand against the more experienced Chiarot.
As I said, the Red Wings probably weren’t thrilled about this fight since Chiarot ended up getting an extra 2-minute penalty. Because of that, the Rangers scored on the following power play and took a 3-0 lead over Detroit in a game that the Red Wings really needed to win.
