A message from Daniel Briere, Rick Tocchet, and others.
The 2025-26 NHL season was many things for the Philadelphia Flyers, but one thing it definitely was not, was dull. The year was filled with ups and downs for the Flyers, and it ended with an amazing finish that surprised many fans, as the team did much better than expected throughout the year.
In the end, the fans in Philadelphia showed great support and love for their team. Despite getting swept in four games by the Carolina Hurricanes, the fans honored the Flyers players with loud applause and chants of “Let’s Go Flyers! ”
Maybe because of that wonderful reception, the Flyers decided to send a message back to those loyal fans on Monday. They did this by sharing a public letter from Flyers governor Dan Hilferty, Flyers president of hockey operations Keith Jones, general manager Daniel Briere, and head coach Rick Tocchet. Here’s the letter just as it is:
The past few weeks of playoff hockey have been an exciting experience and a privilege to see.
We mentioned it when we secured our chance in the playoffs, and it’s still true now: this successful run happened thanks to the hard work and belief of our players and coaches, but what really made it memorable and gave us goosebumps was the amazing support and atmosphere you provided!
You can check out a clip of that amazing moment right below:
Going back to the playoffs reminded us all just how much this city loves Flyers hockey. It’s not just something people watch here, it’s something you can really feel. The orange and black colors are not just colors. They are a part of who we are.
Throughout this time, we really felt your presence. In every match and every play, you were right there with us – supporting us, encouraging us, and reminding everyone what Flyers hockey is all about for Philadelphia.
Even though the last game didn’t go our way, one of the moments we loved the most was when the crowd gave us a standing ovation – it was a heartfelt reminder of why we love this sport. Our players and coaches definitely noticed it.
As we wrap up a season that surprised us, we are excited about what the future holds.
This season showed us what’s possible – the talent of this hardworking team, the confidence we share in our locker room, and the strong base we are creating for a lasting culture of success that you all deserve.
To every fan who has supported us, no matter when you started cheering for us – thank you for staying loyal as we strive to bring the Stanley Cup back to the City of Brotherly Love. What we went through together this season is just the start.
Let’s go Flyers!
The reactions have been a bit mixed, with some fans still upset about how head coach Rick Tocchet managed the team this season, and some even want him to be let go, but those opinions aren’t the majority.
