It was a tough beginning for Jakub Dobeš, the goalie for the Montreal Canadiens, on Thursday night during Game 5 against the Buffalo Sabres.
However, as the game went on, the young goalie seemed to get more comfortable and confident in the net.
After facing a lot of pressure from Buffalo at first, Dobeš started to get into a groove as Montreal took a 6-3 lead before the third period. With the score finally in his team’s favor, the goalie showed that he wasn’t going to let anyone bully him.
In one intense moment near his goal, Dobeš got pushed around by some Sabres players. Alex Tuch even took a shot at Dobeš right after the whistle blew. Instead of ignoring it, Dobeš reacted quickly by stepping forward and hitting Tuch in the chest during a short but fiery moment.
Things got a bit heated, but the referees stepped in fast, and no one got penalized for the incident.
While this moment didn’t lead to any extra punishment, it highlighted how intense the series had become and revealed a tougher side of Dobeš. His teammates, especially Arber Xhekaj, really appreciated it.
