Dominique Ducharme’s coaching career may take him abroad. He has been associated with Dynamo Minsk’s KHL head coaching position, according to reports.
Andrew Zadarnowski brought it up. Ducharme is supposedly in contention for the job, which would make him the newest French-Canadian coach to go to the league.
There, he wouldn’t be by himself. He would join Guy Boucher, who is already coaching in the KHL, according to the article.
And the family tree goes further back than that. According to Zadarnowski, Bob Hartley and Benoit Groulx all attempted the league at various times.
Therefore, for Quebec coaches, this is a well-worn route, not a one-time occurrence.

Ducharme has previously managed an NHL bench, therefore he has prior experience as an NHL head coach. His professional life would take a big step forward if he took a KHL position.

For that reason, the pattern keeps returning. A seasoned coach may remain busy and effective elsewhere when the NHL carousel is at its busiest.
