The Oilers Could Pull Off One Final Blockbuster Before Opening Night

Even if Stan Bowman may not be done making moves before the start of the season, the Oilers have already changed their roster this summer.

 

Bowman has allegedly suggested that the Oilers may be searching for another forward before the season starts.

 

The summertime action has been constant. In a trade that indicated a distinct change of course, Edmonton transferred defenseman Darnell Nurse to the San Jose Sharks. The Oilers’ goalie partnership was completely overhauled with the additions of Devon Levi and Frederik Andersen, giving the team a new appearance between the posts.

 

Bowman added adaptability and depth to the team by acquiring Ryan Shea and Mathieu Joseph through free agency on the offensive end. The organization, however, believes that the work is not yet finished.

 

The urgency driving these acts is impossible to ignore. The Oilers’ whole operation is impacted by Connor McDavid’s present contract status. Reportedly, Edmonton recognizes that maintaining long-term on-ice success is necessary to keep the franchise’s foundation in Oil Country.

Some people have suggested that the squad needs a right-handed sniper or an additional one or two forwards, depending on how younger players like Howard develop.
