Andy Ruiz Jr once embarrassed Anthony Joshua with the eyes of the world watching – and he’s offered to complete his trilogy with the Brit after Joshua’s bout with Whyte was cancelled
Andy Ruiz Jr has made an offer to fight Anthony Joshua after his bout with Dillian Whyte collapsed on Saturday evening.
AJ had been scheduled to face the Brixton Body Snatcher, until Whyte returned “adverse findings” from a random drugs test. As a result, Whyte has been pulled from the bout – and Joshua’s team have been left scrambling for a replacement.
However, Ruiz Jr might have the answer to the problems, as he issued a challenge to the Brit on Instagram: “Eddie Hearn, Joshua, I think I’ve found a new replacement – again! Let’s run it back. Let’s get the trilogy. Let’s get it.”
Ruiz Jr stopped Joshua for the first time in his career back in the summer of 2019. The Mexican shocked the world when he beat Joshua and points, to take his world titles belts back to North America
Joshua bounced back in the rematch, putting on an exhibition in a focused fight that saw him wrestle back all his belts – before eventually dropping them to Oleksandr Usyk.
Ruiz Jr has since slimmed down, from the stocky figure he cut in the first two bouts, and he’s now eyeing a trilogy bout with the Brit.
However, Ruiz Jr might be out of looking with American Gerald Washington currently pencilled in as the replacement for Whyte – according to The Sun.
Washington is currently slated to fight Derek Chisora on the undercard, and he’s been earmarked as the perfect replacement for Whyte in the main event.
