Atletico Madrid has already had a successful transfer window with the additions of Javi Galan, Caglar Soyuncu, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Santiago Mourino, but club officials are not through yet and are working on more recruits
The goal for Atletico right now is to add a new defensive midfielder. Their major goal is Marco Verratti of Paris Saint-Germain, however Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Sofyan Amrabat have also been mentioned.
According to Marca, Atletico have started making arrangements to sign the Italian international. PSG has held preliminary discussions and values their player at €70 million.
While this is currently excessive, Los Colchoneros are hoping that player sales over the next weeks would enable them to pay for Verratti’s summer transfer. Unfortunately, they will certainly have competition because Liverpool and another unnamed Premier League club are also interested in signing him.
Verratti would be a statement acquisition for Atletico Madrid, but that is still just a pipe dream right now. They will be hoping that they can start making money from player sales soon so that they can carry out their plans.
