Chelsea is apparently interested in Montpellier sensation Elye Wahi, while Atletico Madrid has reportedly joined the fight to sign him. The forward is rumored to have settled on personal terms at Stamford Bridge, but if they want to sign their transfer target, they may need to speed up negotiations.

To prepare for future seasons, the Blues are seeking to sign a number of young players this summer with the idea that they will later benefit from their investment. Among the young players signed last summer were Andrey Santos and Cesare Casadei. Todd Boehly has committed further funding for Mauricio Pochettino to sign young players.

Wahi is seen as yet another wise investment who will eventually make his imprint in the first squad, joining Diego Moreira, Ishe Samuels-Smith, and Angelo Gabriel who have already moved in this summer. The 20-year-old has agreed to join Chelsea this summer, and arrangements have been made for him to be loaned out to Strasbourg, per L’Equipe.

Atletico reportedly plans to take advantage of the fact that the Blues have yet to make a formal bid by luring the gifted kid away from Chelsea. Talks over Montpellier’s academy graduate are reportedly ongoing after the Spanish team made contact with Montpellier.

Atletico Madrid opened negotiations with the Ligue 1 outfit and in early conversations, they have reportedly already proposed offering players to the club as part of the deal as they look to bring Elye Wahi’s price down. Despite the potential talent on offer, Montpellier have rejected the approach and are instead looking for a transfer fee for the versatile star at this stage.

Given that they have already established the framework for a transfer by reaching an agreement with the player, who may be preoccupied with other discussions, Chelsea may become more aggressive in their pursuit of Wahi if strong interest from another party emerges.

Moises Caicedo is now the subject of negotiations between the Blues and Brighton. Since taking over as manager at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino has made the Ecuadorian international his main target.

Caicedo has verbally agreed to personal terms with Chelsea and does not need persuading to make the transfer. He has also made it obvious to the Seagulls that he would like them to help him leave. Brighton is also willing to let No. 25 leave the team, but they’re asking for £100 million, which is £30 million more than Chelsea’s most recent offer.
