By securing a transfer agreement for Rayan Cherki, Pep Guardiola may have the opportunity to bring in the next Bernardo Silva for Manchester City
The 28-year-old has once again been linked with a transfer away from the Manchester club this summer, with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Al-Hilal all interested in acquiring his services.
Cherki is a player the Citizens have recently been linked with, and should the midfielder find himself departing the Etihad Stadium in the near future, we believe he may be Guardiola’s replacement for Silva.
Cherki might develop into Guardiola’s Silva
The Frenchman, who is only 19 years old, has already made 102 senior appearances for Olympique Lyon in all competitions, contributing 16 assists and scoring 14 goals.
This demonstrates how valuable he can be in terms of assisting in goals, something Silva has done frequently while at City, amassing 55 goals and 59 assists in 306 games.
The teenager played for Lyon in 34 Ligue 1 games last year, and during that time, he displayed his versatility by occasionally switching from his customary attacking-midfield position to the left and right wings.
This is similar to one of the advantages Silva, who played in France before joining City and saw action last season in a variety of positions, provides Pep Guardiola’s team.
Even though he’s still young, talent scout Jacek Kulig on Twitter called the Frenchman a “world-class” prospect.
Given everything, it is simple to understand why Cherki has caught City’s attention and why we believe he has what it takes to be a top signing for the triple winners should Silva not be available to them for the upcoming season.
