It is unclear whether Konami’s decision to include the 21-year-old in their video game was based on information provided by the team or a mistake on their part. Konami has not responded to the controversy.

According to a statement on Konami’s website, the two have a relationship that gives the series producers “substantial access to the club’s stars” as of the commercial partnership’s 2019 launch.

It will be interesting to see if this access led to Greenwood’s inclusion in the series. If there is no reason to believe the player will return to the team, it would be odd for a club official to use the player’s image.
