BIG Day for Man United fans as they look to seal the transfer of ‘very popular’ Italian star to Man United- Ten Hag had direct contact with the star man last year and player is keen on meeting his teammates this week at Man United

Giorgio Scalvini, the centre back for Atalanta, is reportedly close to joining Manchester United in a £44 million move, according to Seb Ecrivain Foot, the editor of the French publication Les Bons Conceil Du Sports.

Both teams are in a more advanced level of negotiations, and the Red Devils are prepared to trigger the 20-year-old’s release clause.

Man United has been monitoring Scalvini for some time in an effort to expand their alternatives at centre defence.

The 6′ 4in Italy international has established himself as a vital member of the team and is a threat in both boxes. He also has a tonne of potential.

One of the best young centre backs in the world, the young man has caught the attention of Chelsea, who are interested in hiring him.

But it looks like Man United beat them and other suitors to get him, and if a deal can be done, he may be moving to Old Trafford in the upcoming weeks.

Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan have also expressed interest in signing Scalvini; the Red Devils would be fortunate to acquire him before the three Italian teams.

When Raphael Varane’s current contract ends at the conclusion of this season—after the club declined to activate his option to automatically extend his deal by another 12 months—he may be leaving the Theatre of Dreams.

The Frenchman may even depart this month, and Jonny Evans’s contract expires in June 2024, so the Atlanta star may be brought in as a long-term and temporary replacement.

Despite his youth, Scalvini has made 74 appearances for the Serie A team. Manager Erik ten Hag has probably been drawn to Scalvini because of his poise and ability to play out from the back.
