Man City sign a ‘talented’ defender from Manchester United, dealing another blow to Erik ten Hag.
Manchester City has confirmed the signing of one of Manchester United’s finest players.
There hasn’t been much activity between the rivals in the first team, with Carlos Tevez the most recent player to move.
However, it is considerably more common in the youth ranks, and the most recent player to move from one side of Manchester to the other is 16-year-old centre-back Harrison Parker.
Fabrizio Romano, who has been reporting on the deal for some time, verified the defender’s transfer to City on Tuesday afternoon and shared photographs of him signing his contract.
United paid £750,000 to recruit Charlie McNeill from City after he scored over 600 goals in the youth system, and they just signed Darren Fletcher’s twin kids, Jack and Tyler, in a double deal.
However, City have replied by signing Parker, one of United’s most highly touted young players. Parker, who has also trained at Arsenal, made one appearance for the Red Devils in the U-18 Premier League last season.
According to reports, United was so desperate to keep him that they offered him the maximum wage for a young player.
Parker declined the offer in preference of relocating across town, and will now continue his development at the City Football Academy, where the likes of Phil Foden and Rico Lewis have advanced.
According to Romano, City outbid four other clubs for his signature, as he stated in a recent post: “City have beaten four top clubs to the signing — agreement is close despite Man Utd offering highest youth deal to keep Parker.”
